Coalition plan to scrap NBN faces key challenges, Citi report argues: "The Coalition faces a number of key challenges in halting construction of the National Broadband Network and implementing its own policy if it wins power at the next election, a report by Citi has found.
The findings come just as the NBN Co. continues to roll out construction, with three more firms being awarded contracts worth several million.
The Citi report studies the Coalition broadband policy in-depth and suggests that such a major policy change – while not impossible – would prove difficult. Although Telstra is set to benefit either way, the report notes the Coalition market approach faces "some big hurdles"."

The NBN's ACCC crawl | Technology Spectator
The NBN's ACCC crawl | Technology Spectator: "After shadow communications and broadband minister Malcolm Turnbull’s bombast in Paris last week the NBN focus returned to pricing and access, and the fact that NBN Co is yet to finalise its wholesale broadband agreement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). NBN Co will be hoping that it's fourth time lucky after it was forced by the competition regulator to re-submit the wholesale agreement on how internet service providers (ISPs) will access the NBN, for another round of industry negotiations. The ACCC’s stance indicates that it is sufficiently concerned about the prospect of NBN Co pushing ahead with the broadband agreement much too quickly and without the appropriate regulatory oversight."

Uncertainty over NBN terms nobbling internet services sales for telcos | The Australian
Uncertainty over NBN terms nobbling internet services sales for telcos | The Australian: "THE nation's two largest telecommunications companies have delayed trying to sign up paying consumers to internet services on the National Broadband Network because of uncertainty over key terms to access Labor's $36 billion project.
About 14,000 homes and business in the five trial sites passed by the NBN are eligible to take up commercial services on the new superfast fibre optic network, but Telstra and Optus are still yet to reveal their consumer pricing plans. Telstra said it would not release pricing plans for its NBN offers until the telco had "certainty" on the content and timing of NBN Co's wholesale broadband agreement.
Optus would not launch pricing for the new network until it had secured a watertight and commercially sound agreement with NBN Co."

Even as NBN Co defended its Optus contract terms, Telstra's executives hit the streets with a charm offensive in the lead up to its October 18 shareholder vote, backing their nationwide shareholder tour with a new 4G LTE network and a report that says a 'yes' vote could be worth $4.7b compared with other options."

Unlimited Internet Access : The End of the French Model ? - Forbes: Once upon a time the little kingdom of France, which had a very low number of digital users, was a pioneer in the digital economy by inventing “triple play” service: unlimited access to internet + TV + phone, all within a simple “box,” providing the lowest-cost rate in the world at around $40 a month. At the time, giving users unlimited access for a fixed price was considered visionary. We could easily predict that this subscription rate would soon be adapted for mobile service as well.
