Coalition plan to scrap NBN faces key challenges, Citi report argues: "The Coalition faces a number of key challenges in halting construction of the National Broadband Network and implementing its own policy if it wins power at the next election, a report by Citi has found.
The findings come just as the NBN Co. continues to roll out construction, with three more firms being awarded contracts worth several million.

The Citi report studies the Coalition broadband policy in-depth and suggests that such a major policy change – while not impossible – would prove difficult. Although Telstra is set to benefit either way, the report notes the Coalition market approach faces "some big hurdles"."

SA NBN builder forecasts 350 jobs | Adelaide Now: "NBN Co has released maps for the 5800 premises in Modbury and Prospect to connect to the network next while the SA builder forecasts 350 new jobs by 2013.

A day after Lend Lease and Service Stream joint venture Syntheo was awarded the $140 million contract to build the network in SA and the Northern Territory, NBN Co released indicative maps for the next two regions to be connected - in Prospect and Modbury.

Up to 63,000 homes and businesses in nine locations across the state will be connected to the NBN through the next stage of works, expected to be completed by mid-2012."

One-in-five Wilunga premises take up NBN: "New figures released today by NBN Co show that one-in-five residents or businesses that can access the new high-speed National Broadband Network (NBN) at the Willunga First Release Site have had a fibre service activated via their retail service provider.

This is the highest uptake rate for any NBN Co First Release Site, and is indicative of local demand for high-speed fibre broadband. NBN Co launched commercial services over the network just five weeks ago following several months of trial service.

Of the 1100 premises in the fibre footprint in Willunga, 250 have had an NBN-based service activated, or almost 23 per cent, with more than 30 orders for services currently being processed."
